Our host took us to the train station in Baccarach and helped us buy a ticket, it is a small village so there was no station or staff, just a ticket machine. A train came just before the time our train was supposed to come and we were not sure if it was the right one but got on. We talked to people on the train and it was the wrong one so after a couple of stops 2 nice young men helped with our bags and took us to the right place and we got on the right train and were back on track again. We changed trains in Frankfurt with no problem, altogether was 6 hours and cost 26 Euros.
We got to Berlin and took a taxi to apartment and got the key and found out it was 8 flights of stairs, no elevator. The apartment was not very clean, the building and area was full of graffiti and the doors of the apartment were beat up looking. We would not recommend this apartment homeaway property #387674 address Reichenbergerstr 73 a, 10999. We never did meet the owner just communicated by email and just left the money and key on the table. Fortunately the wifi worked well, besides the stairs the bus only stops at the end of street making a long walk to apartment.
